Manage teams
The Teams section shows every team across the scoped event with its division, captain, roster count, and access code.
Opening a team
Click a team name to see:
- Roster — every registered player with payment and waiver flags
- Access code — the secret that lets new players join. You can regenerate it (invalidates current code) or copy it.
- Captain — the current captain with a Transfer button
- Schedule — their games for the event
- Notes — internal admin notes (not visible to the captain)
Transfer captaincy
Sometimes a captain needs to drop or a team needs a new lead. Open the team and click Transfer captaincy. Pick another paid player from the roster and confirm. The system:
- Updates
teams.captain_registration_id - Swaps roles: the old captain becomes a player, the new captain becomes a captain
- Emails the new captain with the portal link
- Emails the old captain with a transfer confirmation
The old captain can still play — they just no longer own the team.
Move a player
To move a player between teams, open their registrant detail page (not the team page) and use the Move to team action. You'll pick the destination team from the same division. Players cannot move across divisions (that would require a refund and re-register).
Merge teams
Rare but happens: two teams both short on players want to combine. There's no auto-merge. The manual flow:
- Pick which team "stays"
- Move every player from the other team into the staying team (one at a time)
- Delete the now-empty team
The deleted team's access code is released. The surviving team may need its roster limit raised if the combined headcount exceeds the default.
Free spots
The Free spots remaining field on a team lets a captain pre-pay seats for future players. On signup, a joining player with free spots available pays $0 and the counter decrements. You can grant free spots administratively by editing the team — often used to comp volunteers or replace a no-show.
