Build your schedule
Round robins, brackets, and field allocation without Excel.
Build schedules
The scheduler generates round robin pools and elimination brackets from your registered teams. You don't write games by hand — you describe the shape you want and the generator fills it in.
Workflow
- Lock your teams. Close registration (or at least the division you're scheduling) so the team list doesn't change under you.
- Open Schedule and pick a division.
- Add schedule blocks in order: typically a round robin (pool play) first, then a single elimination (bracket) that seeds from the pool block. Blocks chain — the bracket knows to look up standings from the pool it references.
- Describe each block:
- Round robin: number of pools, play-all-places on/off - Bracket: size, best-of count. Seeds are paired best against worst (1 v 8, 4 v 5, 2 v 7, 3 v 6), and when the field isn't 4, 8 or 16 the top seeds get the byes.
- Add time slots: name each field, set start and end times. You can paste from a spreadsheet.
- Click Generate. The scheduler assigns teams to pools, creates the games, and drops them into time slots, avoiding back-to-back games for each team where possible.
- Review the preview. Drag games to different slots if you need to.
- Click Publish to make it visible to players.
How pool seeding works
Teams are seeded into pools snake-style by registration order, unless you set manual seeds. You can override any seed in the pool editor before generating.
Bracket advancement
Until a team is known, a bracket slot shows where it comes from: "Seed 1", "Pool A #1", or "Winner G3". A bracket generated here remembers which earlier game feeds each of its slots, so it keeps its shape as results come in. An imported bracket remembers this only where a label such as "Winner G3" points to exactly one game; otherwise the slot only shows the label.
Winners never move into the next game on their own. When results come in, the division's schedule page lists the teams GT proposes for the next games under Ready to apply, and nothing changes until you apply them. A slot GT cannot settle, such as a tie that needs a disc flip, is listed under Needs a decision for you to place by hand. For a bracket imported from USA Ultimate, you can also re-import the page after results are posted, and the slots fill in with the real teams.
Common mistakes
- Too few time slots: the generator will error if there aren't enough slots for the number of games. Add more fields or widen the day.
- Forgot to set per-division SOTG: if you want spirit scoring in the standings for Ultimate, set it on the sport, not the division.
- Published before reviewing: the preview is there for a reason — check for awkward match times before publishing.
